Special Sessions

Special sessions are very small and specialized events to be held during the conference as a set of oral and poster presentations that are highly specialized in some particular theme or consisting of the works of some particular international project. The goal of special sessions (minimum 4 papers; maximum 9) is to provide a focused discussion on innovative topics. All accepted papers will be published in a special section of the conference proceedings book, under an ISBN reference, and on digital support. All papers presented at the conference venue will be available at the SCITEPRESS Digital Library. SCITEPRESS is a member of CrossRef and every paper is given a DOI (Digital Object Identifier). The proceedings are submitted for indexation by SCOPUS, Google Scholar, The DBLP Computer Science Bibliography, Semantic Scholar, Microsoft Academic, Engineering Index (EI) and Web of Science / Conference Proceedings Citation Index.

Scope

Information systems are interfused with many processes in our daily and business lives. Hence they are increasingly shaping societal and business interactions, influencing our communicational and behavioral patterns. Nevertheless, the call for including public discussion on values in the design and application of these systems is getting louder. In this special session, academics and business professionals will be brought together to discuss the potential and the actual implications of IT design on inter-personal behavior as well as interactions within business contexts. The importance of incorporating moral values into the design of the IT artifacts as well as to create IT artifacts that support the realization of moral values is shown in the presented research and will be discussed.

Scope

The use of IST grows in society changing business models and the relationship of the customers with the market. These changes impose new visions in organisations to face new demands. Professionals need to be prepared with new skills to help the organisation to respond to these changes, and the market needs professionals with an open mind to envision new business models. This change is called “digital transformation” (DT). DT is driven by Big Data, Cloud Processing, Artificial Intelligence, Blockchain and Analytics, among others. E-business plays a fundamental role in the DT of organisations. The technological evolution enhances the rise of new ecosystems - it is up to researchers, academics and entrepreneurs to present viable and agile alternatives to change.
